History broken in T20 World Cup 2026: For the first time, four batsmen crossed the 300-run mark in a single edition.

New Delhi . In the 19-year history of the T20 World Cup, the 2026 edition became special and historic in many ways. Till now 10 editions of this tournament have been played, but for the first time this was seen when four batsmen maintained a new record by scoring more than 300 runs in the same season. Earlier, crossing the 300-run mark in the T20 World Cup was considered a big achievement and this was also possible only in different editions.

In fact, in the history of the T20 World Cup, there had been only four times before 2026 when a batsman had scored more than 300 runs in a tournament. In 2009, Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka had achieved this feat by scoring 317 runs. After this, in 2010, Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka scored 302 runs. Then in 2014, India’s Virat Kohli batted brilliantly and scored 319 runs and for a long time this remained the record for scoring the most runs in a single edition. After this, in 2021, Pakistan captain Babar Azam added his name to this list by scoring 303 runs.

However, in the 2026 T20 World Cup, the batsmen performed so well that all the old records were left behind. This time not one or two but four batsmen scored more than 300 runs. This is the reason why this edition is considered to be the most special in the history of T20 World Cup.

The performance of Pakistan’s opener Sahibzada Farhan was the best in this tournament. He created a new history by scoring 383 runs in just 6 innings. Farhan not only scored the most runs in this edition, but also made the record of scoring the most runs in a season in the history of T20 World Cup.

New Zealand’s aggressive batsman Tim Seifert also appeared in excellent form in this tournament. He finished second in the list of run-scorers by scoring 326 runs. At the same time, India’s wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson also performed brilliantly. He scored 321 runs in just 5 innings and also won the title of Player of the Tournament on the basis of his strong performance.

  • The fourth batsman in this historic list was India’s Ishan Kishan, who crossed the 300-run mark by scoring 317 runs in 9 innings. The special thing was that for the first time two batsmen from one team scored more than 300 runs in the same T20 World Cup edition.

In this way, T20 World Cup 2026 became the most memorable tournament in terms of batting. Four batsmen scoring more than 300 runs in a single edition is an indication that the dominance of batsmen is continuously increasing in modern T20 cricket and more such records can be seen in the future.
