New Delhi: The firing that took place during a wedding ceremony in Doghat town of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh shocked the entire area. History-sheeter Vivek Malik alias Vicky (42) of Bahawadi village was shot dead with four bullets. This incident is not just a murder but has become a new chapter of a 27-year-old rivalry.
It is being told that till now a total of 11 people from both the sides have lost their lives in this long dispute. After this incident which happened late on Tuesday night, there is an atmosphere of tension in the area, while the police has started investigating the matter.
Killed by bullets in a wedding ceremony
This incident took place at Dhoom Singh Farm House located in Doghat. Vivek Malik alias Vicky, husband of Babli Devi, former head of Bahawadi village, had come to attend a marriage procession with his friends.
At around 1 o’clock in the night, when the procession was going on, the attackers surrounded Vicky in the parking area. The accused fired about 15 to 20 rounds, in which Vicky was hit by four bullets and he died on the spot.
During this time, the main accused Yashveer alias Rajat was trying to run away, but the people present there caught him and handed him over to the police.
27 year old rivalry
About 27 years old enmity is said to be the reason behind this murder. In Bahawadi village, a dispute started between the families of Vedu and Dariav Singh of the same family over supremacy, which later turned into an electoral conflict for the post of Pradhan.
First of all, in the year 1999, Dariav Singh’s son Jitendra was shot dead. Vivek Malik was said to be the main accused in this case.
After this, Vedu’s son Suresh Malik was murdered in 2000 and Yashpal in 2001.
Bloody conflict intensified again after 2011
After continuous killings, the people of the village intervened and made a compromise between the two parties, after which the atmosphere remained calm for about ten years.
But in 2011, this controversy flared up again. Dariav’s son Pradhan Bijendra was murdered by slitting his throat while returning from the wedding ceremony. In this case too, Vivek Malik’s name came up and an FIR was registered against him.
After this, Bijendra’s brother Devendra was murdered in 2014 and Dharmendra in 2016.
Controversy increased due to the murder of Vicky Tyagi
In the year 2015, notorious criminal Vicky Tyagi was murdered by Vivek Malik’s son Sagar in Muzaffarnagar court. It was told that Vicky Tyagi was helping the opposing party, due to which this murder was committed.
After these incidents, both the parties adopted the path of legal battle and this bloody sequence came to an end for some time.
After coming out of jail, he became a target again
Vivek Malik had gone to jail in the year 2011 and came out of jail only in 2024. After coming out, he was preparing to make his wife contest the elections and posters-banners were also put up in the village.
Meanwhile, Yashveer alias Rajat was looking for an opportunity to avenge the murder of his father Jitendra and other family members. He reached Doghat, about 39 kilometers away, and committed this crime.
Police registered FIR
Police has started action in this case. According to SP Suraj Kumar Rai, an FIR has been registered against four people including accused Rajat’s mother Sunita and his uncle Lokendra.
Police have also recovered a pistol from the spot and investigation into the case is ongoing.
