HMPV Virus New Case: Cases of HMPV virus are increasing rapidly in the country. On Thursday, one more case infected with this virus was reported in Gujarat. Where an 80 year old man got infected with this virus. Officials said that on Thursday, human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection was confirmed in an 80-year-old man in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Let us tell you that the first case of HMPV virus was reported in the country on January 6. Since then, 11 cases have been reported so far.
The patient has no foreign travel history
A statement issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said that the patient is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital and has no history of foreign travel. The man was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and his samples were confirmed to be infected with HMPV virus on Thursday. It is being told that the 80 year old man has been suffering from asthma for some time and at present his condition is stable.

The first case was reported in the state on January 6.
Let us tell you that the first case of HMPV virus in Gujarat was registered on 6 January. Where a two-month-old child from Rajasthan was found infected with HMPV virus. He was discharged after treatment in the hospital. Let us tell you that earlier on Wednesday, a suspicious case was reported in Himmatnagar town of Sabarkantha district. Officials said the patient – an eight-year-old boy, is currently on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Himmatnagar. His blood samples have been sent to a government hospital for confirmation.

This virus was discovered in 2001
Let us tell you that HMPV virus was discovered in 2001. It belongs to the Paramyxoviridae family. It is closely related to respiratory syncytial virus. It is spread by respiratory droplets released from coughing or sneezing, as well as by touching contaminated surfaces or coming into direct contact with infected individuals.
