New case of HMPV virus found in Gujarat, 80 year old man infected in Ahmedabad

The patient has no foreign travel history

A statement issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said that the patient is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital and has no history of foreign travel. The man was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and his samples were confirmed to be infected with HMPV virus on Thursday. It is being told that the 80 year old man has been suffering from asthma for some time and at present his condition is stable.

Officials said the patient – ​​an eight-year-old boy, is currently on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Himmatnagar.
