Holi Special Trains 2026: Railway Board has started Holi Special Trains to ease the travel of passengers on the occasion of Holi 2026. The main aim of running these trains is to provide relief to the people going to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Chandigarh and Mata Vaishno Devi Katra from crowd and long waiting list.

Holi Special Trains 2026: Holi festival is near and everyone wants to celebrate this festival at home with their family. But on this special occasion, it becomes very difficult to get confirmed tickets due to huge crowd in trains and long waiting lists. Often people cancel their journey due to not getting a seat. But this time a solution to this problem of passengers has been found so that your return home can be easier.
Railway Board has started Holi special trains to ease the travel of passengers on the occasion of Holi 2026. The main aim of running these trains is to provide relief to the people going to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Chandigarh and Mata Vaishno Devi Katra from crowd and long waiting list. With this special initiative, passengers will not only be able to reach their homes without any hassle, but their journey will also be more comfortable and convenient than before.
Which are the special trains to go to Bihar?
- New Delhi-Barauni Special (04054/04053): This train will leave Delhi at 7:50 pm every evening from 20th February to 6th March and will reach Barauni in about 12 hours. In return it will run daily from 22 February to 8 March. All three coaches, AC, Sleeper and General, are available in it.
- New Delhi-Supaul Special (04060/04059): This train from Delhi to Supaul will leave every day at 9:35 pm from 20th February. The return train from Supaul will be available from 22nd February at 7:00 am. In this too, coaches of all categories AC, Sleeper, General have been provided.
- Anand Vihar-Laukaha Bazaar Special (04014/04013): This train from Anand Vihar will run from 27 February to 6 March at 3:40 pm. This is the best option to go home for people living near Nepal border. On return, it will leave at 9:30 pm.
Which are the Holi special trains for UP?
- New Delhi-Gorakhpur Special (04022/04021): This train will run from Delhi at 2:00 pm on 20th, 27th February and 6th March. Return will be at 7:00 am the next day.
- Varanasi-New Delhi (04209/04210): It will run from Varanasi every day at 10:30 pm from 24th February. Return from Delhi will be at 7:25 pm daily.
- Ayodhya-Anand Vihar (04213/04214): This train will run from Ayodhya at 6:20 pm on special dates, reaching Lucknow at 8:45 pm and will reach Delhi.
- Varanasi-Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (04603/04604): This train will make several trips between Katra and Varanasi in the first week of February and March.
Special trains and routes for Chandigarh-Lucknow
- Chandigarh-Gorakhpur (04514/04513): It will leave from Chandigarh on 26th February and 5th March at 11:35 pm. The return will take place on 27 February and 6 March.
- Lucknow-New Delhi (04203/04204): It will leave from Lucknow on 23 February and 2 March at 8:05 am. Return from Delhi will be at 8:20 pm.

Where and how to book tickets?
Booking for these Holi special trains has started on IRCTC website and app and you can book your tickets from this platform. Please note that these are special trains, due to which their fares may be slightly higher than normal. At present, seats are vacant in many trains, so book your tickets immediately to avoid waiting list.
What to do to get a confirmed ticket?
- While booking tickets, please select ‘Option’. If you do not get a seat in the train of your choice, then Railways can give you a confirmed seat in some other train on the same route.
- If you are not able to get a direct train to your home, then first take a ticket from Delhi to Lucknow or Kanpur. From there you can use bus or other train.
- Railways also run ‘clone trains’ (another train running around the same time) on heavily congested routes. You can get this information from the station or rail app.
