Honda Recalls CB350, CB300R, and CB300F in India Over Sensor and Camshaft Issues

New Delhi: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has announced a recall affecting several of its popular models, including the H’ness CB350, CB350, CB300R, and CB300F. This recall, targeting bikes manufactured between October 2020 and April 2024, is due to potential issues with the wheel speed sensor and camshaft defects. The recall primarily focuses on problems with improper moulding in the wheel speed sensor, which could compromise the performance of the speedometer, traction control, and ABS systems, leading to potential safety concerns.

Wheel Speed Sensor Issue

Honda identified that the issue stems from the improper moulding of the wheel speed sensor, allowing water to seep into the component. This water intrusion can cause malfunctions in the sensor, leading to inaccurate speedometer readings and affecting the traction control and ABS systems. Should these systems fail, the effectiveness of the motorcycle’s braking could be compromised, potentially posing a risk to riders. Despite this, no accidents related to this issue have been reported so far.

The recall also covers units of the CB350, CB350RS, and Highness CB350, addressing camshaft defects that could degrade engine performance. The recall applies to models produced between June and July 2024, with the issue attributed to manufacturing faults in the camshaft, which could affect the overall performance of the bike.

Free Repairs at Honda BigWing Dealerships

Honda has assured customers that repairs will be carried out free of charge at authorised BigWing dealerships across India. The replacement of the faulty components will be handled, irrespective of the warranty status of the motorcycles. Honda’s prompt response to addressing these defects underscores its commitment to rider safety and vehicle performance.

While the exact number of motorcycles affected by the recall remains undisclosed, it is expected that the popular Honda H’ness CB350 and CB350RS, which have seen strong sales in India, will constitute a large portion of the recalled units. Honda advises all owners of affected motorcycles to visit their nearest service centres for a thorough inspection and replacement of the defective parts.
