Honda sells 12 bikes-scooters every minute, the company created a new record in the month of May by selling 5.18 lakh units in 31 days.
New Delhi. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd reported total sales of 5.18 lakh units in May 2026, an annual growth of 12 per cent as compared to 4.65 lakh units sold in May 2025. In May 2026, domestic sales stood at 4.59 lakh units, a growth of 10 per cent compared to 4.17 lakh units sold in the same month last year. Exports in May 2026 stood at 0.59 lakh units, which is an increase of 24 percent as compared to 0.47 lakh units exported in May 2025.

This month, there was continuous demand in the two-wheeler market. Backed by its diverse product portfolio and large network of over 7,000 touchpoints across the country, HMSI is continuously strengthening its customer reach and expanding into different markets.
Earlier, in March 2026, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd had announced that it will add a third production line at its second plant in India (Tapukara, Alwar district, Rajasthan). The new line is scheduled to become operational in 2028, with an annual production capacity of 670,000 units, taking the total capacity of the second plant to 2.01 million units.
To meet the continued growth and diversification of demand for motorcycles in India, HMSI will invest approximately Rs 15 billion to purchase 74,000 square meters of land adjacent to its second plant to build a third production line there. This new line will be designed in such a way that it will be capable of producing a total of 670,000 units of 125cc and 160cc scooters and light motorcycles. The addition of this new line will create 2,000 new jobs and increase the total production capacity of the second plant to 2.01 million units.
