Honda to Unveil 0 Series Electric SUV Concept at CES 2025

Honda is gearing up for a significant debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, where it will unveil the Honda 0 Series electric SUV concept. Scheduled for January in Las Vegas, the concept SUV will be showcased alongside the Honda 0 Series sedan prototypemarking a major step in the Japanese automaker’s ambitious EV roadmap. This unveiling comes ahead of the production timeline set for 2026, with Honda aiming to launch a total of seven 0 Series electric vehicles by the end of this decade.

A Futuristic Design Philosophy

Both the electric SUV and sedan teased by Honda exhibit a cutting-edge design language. The teaser images reveal a shared aesthetic that includes a flat front and rear profilecomplemented by sleek LED lighting. Built on a completely new bespoke EV platform developed from the ground up, these vehicles embody Honda’s futuristic vision for electric mobility.

The Honda 0 Series sedanpreviously showcased, provides insight into the design inspiration for the SUV. With clean lines and aerodynamic elements, the new SUV concept is expected to embody a similar blend of minimalism and technological sophistication.

Underpinnings and Technical Innovations

Honda’s 0 Series models will be supported by an innovative EV platform that introduces advanced compact e-axles. These e-axles are designed for flexibility, enabling them to be mounted lower in the vehicle to optimize cabin space while enhancing aerodynamic efficiency. The result is a reduced frontal area that contributes to extended range.

Powertrain Options and Performance

The 0 Series EVs will offer both single and dual-motor configurations:

  • Entry-level variants will feature a 245 bhp motor mounted on the rear axle, delivering rear-wheel drive.
  • Dual-motor variants will combine the 245 bhp rear motor with an additional 68 bhp front motor for four-wheel drive capability.

This versatility ensures the 0 Series can cater to a broad spectrum of customers, from urban commuters to performance enthusiasts.

Battery Technology and Range

The vehicles will use nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery packsstrategically positioned under the floor. These batteries, with capacities ranging between 80 kWh and 90 kWh, are expected to provide an estimated range of up to 480 kilometers on a single charge. Notably, Honda has engineered the battery packs to be 8 mm thinner than those used by competitors, maximizing cabin space and improving vehicle dynamics.

Will the Honda 0 Series EVs Come to India?

While Honda has not officially confirmed plans to bring the 0 Series EVs to India, the growing demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market makes it a strong contender. India’s focus on EV adoption, coupled with the government’s incentives for electric vehicles, aligns well with Honda’s global EV strategy. If introduced, the Honda 0 Series could provide stiff competition to established EV players in the Indian market.

Honda’s Vision for Electric Mobility

The 0 Series marks a significant milestone in Honda’s transition toward an all-electric future. With a focus on technological innovation, aerodynamic efficiencyand premium designthe series is poised to establish Honda as a formidable player in the EV space. The CES 2025 debut will provide a glimpse into the company’s evolving vision and its commitment to sustainability.
