Speaking on the Abytox podcast, the singer revealed that his mental health problems began while he was juggling professional projects, including a music reality show and an international tour with Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “I was doing a music reality show in Mumbai and touring America with Shah Rukh Khan. I was scared that I would die. I was in Chicago; someone was with me, and he said, ‘You have to go for rehearsals.’ I said I can’t go. Shahrukh Bhai called me and asked what happened. I said, ‘I’m fine; I’ll meet you on stage.'”

Honey Singh told how he contacted his family, but continued his program for some time and then completely stayed away from public life. He said, “Then I called my sister and told her that something was happening to me. She said I had to do the show. I left the show midway after singing two songs. After that I remained locked in the house for seven years. I didn’t want my fans to see me in that condition. I locked myself in the house and didn’t even meet my childhood friends. No contact, no phone calls, no TV, no internet. People thought the devil was talking to me.” Describing the seriousness of his condition, the singer said that he remained confined to the house for a long time.

Honey Singh told that he used to feel scared all the time. “For three years, I didn’t come out of my bedroom. Even while taking a bath, I would keep the bathroom door open because I was afraid I would die. Bipolar disorder makes you have destructive thoughts that aren’t real, but make you feel like they’re really happening,” he said during the conversation.
