According to Dimsum DailyLee made the remarks during a Feb. 16 interview on Hong Kong entertainment channel HOY TV.
Reflecting on their canceled engagement, Lee described himself as someone who values affection over money, a trait he called his greatest weakness. He said he plans to shift his priorities this year by placing greater emphasis on financial prudence.
Lee and Wong’s relationship became public in 2020 following reports that Wong had suffered a miscarriage of Lee’s child, according to The Straits Times. Lee was previously married and has three children with his ex-wife, all older than Wong.
In February 2024, Wong was arrested for overstaying her Hong Kong tourist visa. Authorities also found she had used forged U.S. university diplomas to apply for entry under a preferential immigration scheme. She later pleaded guilty to seven offenses and was sentenced to 25 months in prison. After receiving leniency from the court, she was released in July 2025 after serving 18 months. She then returned to her hometown of Foshan, while Lee remained in Hong Kong.
During her imprisonment, Lee frequently visited Wong, wrote letters to her and picked her up upon her release, proposing to her shortly afterward.
However, in December last year, a YouTuber posted photos allegedly showing Wong in Foshan with her husband, whom she reportedly married in 2007, and their teenage son. Lee subsequently contacted Wong and confirmed the information was accurate, after which the couple officially ended their relationship.
Lee has appeared in productions by TVB since the 1980s and is best known for his roles in dramas such as “The Return of the Condor Heroes,” “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer,” “Journey to the West,” and “Forensic Heroes.” He is also active as a singer.
