“Hormuz closure, sound of LPG crisis in the country”: Rahul Gandhi’s sharp attack on the government in Lok Sabha

Kolkata. A vigorous debate was witnessed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday regarding the ongoing Iran-Israel-America conflict in West Asia and the energy crisis arising from it. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, targeting the government, said that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz can have a serious impact on India’s energy security and there is increasing concern about LPG in the country.

Concern expressed on energy security-
Rahul Gandhi said in the House that the ongoing war in West Asia will have far-reaching consequences. He said that about 20 percent of the world’s oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz and if this route is disrupted, it will have the biggest impact on countries like India.

He said that a large part of India’s oil and natural gas comes through this sea route, hence it can have an impact on the country’s economy and the lives of common people. Rahul Gandhi claimed that panic is spreading among the people regarding LPG and small traders and street vendors are being affected by it.

Questions raised on the statements of America and Trump-
The Congress leader raised the question why a big country like India should give any other country the right to decide from whom it should buy oil or gas. He said how can America decide whether India buys oil from Russia or not and with whom our energy supply relations will be.

Rahul Gandhi said that the foundation of any country is its energy security and India should adopt an independent policy in this matter.

Uproar in the House as soon as Epstein was mentioned-
During his speech, Rahul Gandhi attacked the government, allegedly referring to a statement related to Epstein. After this comment a huge uproar started in the House.

Speaker Om Birla interrupted Rahul Gandhi and said that he should speak only on the subject on which he has given notice and no one can be allowed to speak outside the rules of the House.

After Rahul Gandhi’s statement, there was a heated exchange between the treasury bench and the opposition, which led to disruption in the House for some time.
