Mathura, 16 March. A case of murder of a priest has come to light in Mathura. The police have detained two people from the priest’s village and started investigation. According to the police, Mohan Das alias Gunga Baba, the priest of Radha Vallabh temple located in Barsana, was going towards the room located in the temple premises after performing Shringar Aarti at 9 am on Sunday. Meanwhile, unknown assailants seriously injured the priest by attacking his neck and stomach with a knife and fled from the spot.
People came to know about the incident when they reached the temple for worship at 10.30. On seeing the priest soaked in blood, the villagers immediately admitted him to KD Hospital. He died during treatment here late at night. The police have detained two people from the village for questioning. The police have examined the CCTV footage, in which no one was seen coming or going. Priest Mohan Das alias Gunga Baba’s guru Vaishnav Das has filed a case against unknown attackers.
Superintendent of Police, Rural Mathura, Suresh Chandra Rawat said that the priest of Radhavallabh temple in Sahar village under Barsana police station area was injured with a knife and died while being taken to the hospital. On receiving this information, samples were taken by the forensic team, a case was registered under relevant sections and two accused were taken into custody for questioning while taking investigative action. Legal action is being taken after collecting CCTV and other evidence.
Let us tell you that on March 3, an old woman was murdered in Raya police station area of Mathura. The police have arrested the daughter-in-law and her lover Adil for the murder of old woman Anwari Begum. On the night of March 2, Anwari Begum had seen the daughter-in-law and Adil in an objectionable position. After this, both of them strangled Anwari to death.
