How ‘Akalim’ has Aam Aadmi Party become in 5 years? Know the big names

Aam Aadmi Party had created history by forming the government in Punjab in the year 2022. For a long time, the key to power remained between Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress, but Aam Aadmi Party broke this trend and formed the government for the first time in Punjab with a huge victory. Even after the formation of this government, Aam Aadmi Party continued to expand in Punjab. Many leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal broke away and joined Aam Aadmi Party, including the names of many former MLAs and ministers. Due to the leadership crisis in Shiromani Akali Dal, a situation arose that the party workers had to leave the party.

 

Aam Aadmi Party has given the biggest blow to Shiromani Akali Dal in the last five years in the form of senior party leader and former cabinet minister Surjit Singh Rakhra. Surjit Singh Rakhra has recently left Akali Dal and joined Aam Aadmi Party. CM Bhagwant Mann himself included him in the party.

Rakhra gave a blow

Surjit Singh Rakhra’s departure is being considered a big blow for Akali Dal. Rakhra has made it clear that he is joining the party because of the way the party has taken a stand on religious matters. In the next assembly elections, he can contest from Samana assembly seat. Surjit Singh Rakhra is a big and influential name in Punjab politics. Along with politics, he and his brothers have big business abroad.

Raj Mahendra Singh Majithia

In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party has started preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. In this sequence, leaders of many other parties are also joining the Aam Aadmi Party. Recently, senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Raj Mahendra Singh Majithia has joined the Aam Aadmi Party.

Pawan Kumar Tinnu

Pawan Kumar Tinnu was counted among the veteran leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal. He had left Akali Dal and joined Aam Aadmi Party two years ago. He is considered to have a good hold on Dalit votes. Tinnu started his political career from BSP. In 2012, he joined Akali Dal and became MLA from Adampur, Jalandhar for the first time. After this, he lost the election to the Congress candidate in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In 2017, he contested the elections again and won but had to face defeat in the 2022 assembly elections.

Harmeet Singh Sandhu

Aam Aadmi Party included Harmeet Singh Sandhu from Shiromani Akali Dal into the party. Sandhu had been MLA from Tarn Taran seat thrice. In 2002, he won the election as an independent candidate. In 2007 and 2012, he reached the Assembly on Akali Dal ticket. After this, the assembly elections of 2017 and 2022 were lost. After this he joined the Aam Aadmi Party. After this, he contested the elections from Ratan Taran seat on Aam Aadmi Party ticket and reached the Assembly. Aam Aadmi Party is continuously strengthening its party by breaking the leaders of other parties.
