The US Army’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a separate statement that 11 Iranian ships were also targeted and destroyed. How expensive will this operation cost America?
It is difficult to estimate the total cost of an ongoing military operation. Experts say that it is too early to say how much this war will cost America overall. Al Jazeera quoted a news agency as saying that in the first 24 hours of Operation Epic Fury, America may have spent about 779 million dollars.
An additional $630 million is estimated to be spent on pre-attack military preparations, such as deployment of aircraft, deployment of more than a dozen naval ships and activation of regional resources.
According to the Center for a New American Security, it costs about $6.5 million a day to operate a carrier strike group like the USS Gerald R. Ford. Apart from this, there is also cost associated with equipment damage. At least three American warplanes were shot down in Kuwait in what US officials described as a “friendly fire” incident.
