How did India get its second biggest defeat in T20? understand mistakes
The 43rd match of T20 World Cup 2026 was played between India and South Africa. This match took place on 22 February at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match was part of Group 1 of the Super 8 and South Africa won by a wide margin. They won by 76 runs. This defeat added another name to the shameful record of Team India.
This is India’s first defeat in 18 matches in all formats of the ICC tournament. Last time, India lost to Australia in the final of the World Cup 2023 at the same venue. This is also India’s first defeat in the Multination T20 International tournament. The previous defeat was to England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide.

South Africa’s innings
South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. This decision initially went in favor of India, but later South Africa managed to make a good score. In the first 12 overs, South Africa scored 111 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. Then he scored 74 runs in the remaining 8 overs at the loss of 4 wickets. As a result, South Africa managed to score 187 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
For South Africa, David Miller scored the highest score of 63 runs, while Dewald Brevis scored 45 runs. On the other hand, for India, Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh took two and Varun Chakraborty and Shivam Dubey took one wicket each.

India’s innings
Team India had a very bad start while chasing the target of South Africa. The team could not stop its wickets from falling. India scored 75 runs losing 5 wickets in the first 12 overs. Then he batted only 7 overs, in which he scored 36 runs losing 5 wickets. Due to this, India could not even play 20 overs and were all out for 111 runs in 18.5 overs. Due to this, South Africa won the match by a huge margin of 76 runs.
Shivam Dubey scored the highest score of 42 runs for India. No other Indian player could score more than 20 runs. Marco Jensen took four wickets for South Africa. Keshav Maharaj took three wickets, Corbin Bosch took two and Aiden Markram took one wicket.
