How did PM Kisan Samman Nidhi get breached? Two cyber thugs arrested with Rs 6.33 lakh cash

Sanjay Singh, Patna: A big case of fraud in the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has come to light in Bhagalpur. Police have busted an organized cyber gang making illegal withdrawals from farmers’ bank accounts and arrested two accused. During the raid, Rs 6 lakh 33 thousand in cash, laptop, mobile phone, biometric machine, ATM card and many bank documents were recovered.

 

City SP Shailendra Kumar Singh said that technical monitoring was going on continuously to curb cyber crime. Meanwhile, on 27 February 2026, Chandan Kumar Sah, resident of Badliganj of Ishipur Barahat police station area, gave a written complaint. It was said in the complaint that the amount of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is being withdrawn by fraudulently operating bank accounts in the name of farmers whose KYC is not updated.

When did the raid take place?

Taking the matter seriously, a case was registered in the cyber police station. Considering the seriousness of the case, on the instructions of the SSP, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (City) and DSP (Cyber). Technical research revealed that the gang is active from Warsaliganj locality of Mojahidpur police station area.

After confirming the information, the police raided a house in Warsaliganj on the evening of 28 February. Amar Kumar Tanti, resident of Marufchak and Rahul Kumar, resident of Warsaliganj were arrested from the spot. During the search, Rs 6.33 lakh in cash, a laptop, two mobile phones, a biometric machine, mobile printer, 10 ATM cards, 12 bank passbooks, Aadhar cards and other important documents were recovered from them.

How did PM Kisan Samman Nidhi get breached?

During preliminary interrogation, the accused admitted that they used to prepare a list of such farmers whose KYC was incomplete. After this, they used to withdraw the amount of the scheme by accessing the bank accounts through fake documents and technical manipulation. Police are conducting raids in search of other absconding members.

 

City SP has appealed to the farmers to complete the KYC of their bank accounts on time and not to share ATM, OTP or bank related information with any unknown person. He said that the campaign against cyber criminals will continue and the culprits will not be spared.
