Delhi: KL Rahul continues to look in good form in the ODI series against South Africa. In the first two matches, he played important innings of 60 and 66 not out. After these innings, former fast bowler Dale Steyn praised Rahul and said that if he gets a chance to bat higher in the order, he can score more centuries.

Stan praised Rahul

Steyn believes that Rahul understands the game situation very well and whenever he gets responsibility, he takes charge of the team. Steyn said about this, “Rahul knows how to control the match. If he is sent at number 3 or opening, he can easily play big innings and score a century. But, there are other players in those places in the team and Rahul plays only after understanding his role.”

Steyn also praised the partnership between Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle overs in the second match. He said that Rahul knew very well when to play slowly and when to increase the run rate. His understanding put the team in a strong position.

Rahul has so far scored 3218 runs in 83 innings. His average is around 50. He has scored 7 centuries and 20 half-centuries. His last century came against Netherlands in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

However, despite Rahul’s brilliant batting, India failed to repeat the first win. The team scored 358 runs in the second ODI, which also included centuries from Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad. But, thanks to Aiden Markram’s excellent inning of 110 runs, South Africa won by four wickets.

Now the series is tied at 1-1 and the decisive match to be held in Visakhapatnam on 6th December is going to be very interesting.
