Why did Delhi Capitals not get Rishabh Pant even after using RTM in the auction? This rule became the reason

IPL 2025 Rishabh Pant: In the IPL 2025 mega auction, everyone expected that the highest bid would be placed on star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and the same happened. Lucknow Super Giants bought him for Rs 27 crore and added him to their team. But, meanwhile, Delhi Capitals were seen trying their best to buy Pant. He had even used RTM for Pant. But, there is a rule, with the help of which LSG included Pant in their camp.

RTM did not work for Delhi Capitals

As soon as Rishabh Pant's name came up in the IPL 2025 mega auction, many teams joined the bidding. There was a clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which LSG won and joined them. This means that now Rishabh Pant can be seen captaining Lucknow in IPL 2025. It would not be wrong to say that LSG has included Rishabh Pant in place of KL Rahul.

Why did RTM not work for Delhi?

As everyone knows RTM has returned in the IPL 2025 mega auction. That means a team can add a player released by it by using the right to card.

But during the mega auction, it was seen that Delhi Capitals first bid a lot for Rishabh Pant and then finally used RTM at Rs 20.75 crore. But, still Pant did not get his hands and went to Lucknow. In such a situation, this question is coming in the minds of the fans that how did this happen after the use of RTM.

Actually, the rule of IPL auction is that if any team wants to buy a player using RTM, then it can directly buy him by bidding Rs 7 crore more. Same thing happened in Pant's case also. While Delhi had used RTM at Rs 20.75 crore, LSG increased it by Rs 7 crore and bought it for Rs 27 crore.
