The specialty of Dabeli is that it does not take much time or effort to make it. The combination of potatoes, spices, pomegranate seeds and crunchy peanuts makes it a healthy and tasty snack. Be it evening hunger or cooking something special for guests, Dabeli fits every occasion.
- 4 pav (bun)
- 3 boiled potatoes (mashed)
- 2 tbsp dabeli masala
- 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
- 2 tbsp garlic chutney
- 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
- 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- Green coriander (for garnish)
- Butter or oil (for baking bread)
- salt as per taste
How to make Dabeli
Dabeli is a famous Gujarati snack, rich in taste and nutrition. To prepare it, heat some oil in a pan and add Dabeli masala in it. Now add mashed potatoes to it and mix well. Add salt and some water and cook the mixture for 2-3 minutes, so that the spices get mixed well in the potatoes.
Cut the pav from the middle and apply butter on it and roast it on the pan until it becomes light golden. This will make the pav crisp and tasty. Now apply tamarind and garlic chutney inside the pav. Fill the prepared potato mixture in it. Add onion, peanuts and pomegranate seeds on top, which adds crunch and freshness to the taste.
Garnish the prepared dabeli with green coriander and serve hot. If you want, you can roast it a little more, which further enhances its taste. Adults as well as children will like its taste.
