Makhana is rich in nutrients and being light, it can be easily digested. This kheer made from milk, dry fruits and makhana is liked by everyone from children to adults. The special thing is that it can be prepared very easily at home.
- 1 cup makhana (fox nuts)
- 1 liter milk
- 3-4 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 8-10 cashews (chopped)
- 8-10 almonds (chopped)
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 tablespoon raisins
- Some pistachios (for garnish)
Makhana Kheer is a nutritious sweet dish. To make this, first heat some ghee in a pan. Now add makhana to it and fry on low flame for 4-5 minutes. When the makhana becomes lightly crunchy, turn off the gas. After cooling, break half of these makhanas lightly and leave the rest whole.
Now put milk in a deep vessel and boil it on medium flame. Keep stirring the milk occasionally so that it does not stick to the bottom of the vessel. When the milk starts thickening a little, add roasted makhana to it.

After adding the makhana, let the kheer cook on low flame for 8-10 minutes, so that the makhana absorbs the flavor of the milk properly. Now add sugar, chopped cashews, almonds and raisins. Cook the kheer for 4-5 minutes more. Finally add cardamom powder and mix well.
Take out the prepared Makhana Kheer in a serving bowl and garnish with pistachios on top. It can be eaten hot or can also be served after cooling it in the refrigerator. Everyone likes this sweet during festivals and special occasions.
