- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil or mustard oil
- 1/2 tsp black salt or common salt
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp chaat masala (optional)
- 1 pinch turmeric (optional)
How to make sweet potato chips
Chips prepared from sweet potato are full of energy. To prepare this, first wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly so that the soil becomes clean. If you wish, remove the peel, although chips can be made with the peel also. Now cut it into thin round slices. Try to make all the slices the same thickness.
Place the cut slices in a large bowl. Add oil, salt, red chilli, black pepper and chaat masala and mix well. Keep in mind that every slice is coated with spices and oil in a light layer. Adding too much oil can make the chips soggy.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Spread the slices one by one on a baking tray lined with butter paper. Take care that the slices do not overlap each other. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Turn once in the middle so that both sides become crispy. When the edges become golden and crisp, take out.
If oven is not available, heat oil in a pan and fry the slices on medium flame till they turn light golden. After frying, drain on tissue paper to remove excess oil.
Store the prepared sweet potato chips in an airtight container. It can also be given with tea or in children’s tiffin. This snack not only enhances the taste but also gives instant energy to the body.
