As the excitement for the film continues to grow, Rajamouli revealed that several important sequences in ‘Varanasi’ have been shot at the newly commissioned state-of-the-art motion capture facility at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. This facility is considered to be the most advanced mo-cap lab in India.
Rajamouli said that facilities of such quality were not available in India during his earlier films. “India has always had world-class technicians and contributed to major international productions. But our country lacked state-of-the-art facilities. Looking back on films like Baahubali: The Beginning or Eega, I think if motion capture technology was available in India at that time, I could have done it in a grander way,” he said.
He added, “A&M’s motion capture technology fills that gap. It will revolutionize the way Indian filmmakers envision stories and bring them to life on screen. Now we don’t need to outsource the work. I have seen many motion capture facilities around the world, but the combination of precision and performance offered by A&M is truly outstanding. We have shot some important sequences in ‘Varanasi’ here and the results have been impressive.”
Even before its release in India, ‘Varanasi’ has been in the limelight internationally. The first glimpse of the film was shown at the ‘Trailer Festival’ held at Le Grand Rex in Paris. The film received an overwhelming response from the audience at this theater, one of the largest and most prestigious theaters in Europe. From the very first frame, the entire hall erupted with applause, cheers and whistles.
