Hugh Bonneville has spoken publicly for the first time about his new romance following the end of his 25-year marriage.
The Downton Abbey actor opened up on the topic saying he feels “blessed” as he begins a fresh chapter in his life.
The 62-year-old star split from his wife Lulu Williams in September 2023 after spending more than two decades together.
The separation followed a harrowing period for the actor who lost his mother, brother and father within six years.
In October 2024 Hugh confirmed he was dating vegan influencer Heidi Kadlecova.
The actor reportedly met her through the cast and crew of the film Go Away!.
Now he has reflected on finding love again.
“I do feel very blessed and very content to have started a new chapter. I am more accepting of the wheel of life and how fortunate I have been to have, on the whole, good health and to do something I love,” he told Saga Magazine.
Hugh also opened up about processing grief after his mother’s death revealing a deeply personal moment.
“The admin of the funeral and everything numbed the grief for a while. I didn’t read any of the letters of commiseration or condolence we received until a year later, when I took them all with me to India,” he said.
“I was doing a film but had one weekend off, so I went on my own to this incredibly peaceful, quiet hotel in the middle of nowhere and read all the letters and absolutely let it all out. All the emotion. That was a very cathartic thing.”
Hugh and Heidi have been together since mid-2024 and are said to be going from strength to strength.
