At least 44 people have died in incidents related to Hurricane Helen. Many trees have been uprooted and many houses have been damaged due to strong winds. A woman living there, her one-month-old twin child and an elderly woman have died after a tree fell on a house due to the storm. Three firefighters also died during relief operations at the scene.

Hurricane 'Helen' hit the Big Bend village of Florida late on Thursday night. During that time the maximum speed of the storm was 225 kilometers per hour.
