HYBE files lawsuit against 7 YouTube channels for spreading fake news about LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT’s

Popular K-pop groups LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT’s management company, HYBE Corporation, has filed a lawsuit against seven YouTube channels that disseminate inaccurate information about its musicians. HYBE has filed eight lawsuits against cyberwreckers who have consistently shared false content against the two groups, according to a story published on September 20 by the K-media outlet News 1.

The accused YouTubers have been disseminating false information, including claims that music by other artists are being plagiarized by ILLIT. They have also erroneously claimed that LE SSERAFIM has pro-Japanese sentiments and is connected to a particular religious group. Despite having no solid foundation, these assertions have sparked controversy among fans and the general public. HYBE stressed in their complaint that the cyberwreckers’ assertions are wholly baseless in response to the harmful content.

In an official statement, HYBE stated, “We take these matters seriously and will not tolerate the spread of false information and defamation that harms our artists’ reputations. We have taken the necessary legal steps to hold these individuals accountable.”

HYBE has defended its artists in court on other occasions as well; the organization has a history of taking the initiative to address online harassment, defamation, and false information in the digital sphere. Celebrity gossip-focused YouTube channels and social media platforms have become more popular, therefore agencies like HYBE are keeping a closer eye out to protect their artists from harmful content.
