HYBE’s Weekly Trend Report leaked online; targets JYP Entertainment artists with disparaging remarks

New controversy has been triggered by the recent leak of HYBE’s internal records. The records contain denouncing remarks directed not only at competitors’ businesses but also at their artists, some of whom are even named. For a number of female performers from JYP Entertainment, this has been the case.

Fans were incensed by the sentiments, which included offensive remarks about the behavior and personal appearance of ITZY’s Yuna, as well as NMIXX’s Haewon and Kyujin.

HYBE allegedly made reference to ITZY’s Yuna’s emphasis on looks and implied that she might be gravitating toward a “sex appeal” approach in one section of the report. According to the source, she may be dealing with comparable demands in a setting where maintaining mental boundaries can be difficult, likening her to former JYP idols Sunmi and Hyuna.

The report read: Like other former JYP female idols such as Sunmi and Hyuna, she appears to be showing similar signs of being exposed long-term to an environment where maintaining mental defenses is difficult, resulting in a notable emphasis on appearance and sex appeal.

There was a lot of interest in HYBE’s remarks regarding NMIXX members Haewon and Kyujin. According to reports, the paper stated that Haewon had been spotted reading a feminist book; HYBE insiders conjectured that this information might be used against her.

The report added: Claims have emerged that Haewon was reading a feminist book. This could potentially be used as provocative content against her, with accusations of ‘team-killing’ by trying to capitalize on feminist issues.

The note also mentioned Kyujin, mentioning her presence on Styler, a show hosted by LE SSERAFIM Eunchae. Even though her participation on the show was well received, HYBE’s assessment stated that Kyujin’s physical difference from Eunchae during a challenge was “noticeable and concerning.”

“Kyujin appeared in [LE SSERAFIM] Eunchae’s ‘Styler’ show and helped generate positive responses to the content, but during the challenge, the physical difference between her and Eunchae was quite noticeable and concerning.”
