HYK vs MUL, PSL 2026: Hyderabad Kingsmen have stormed to an eight-wicket win over the Multan Sultans to set up an Eliminator Clash against the Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. Following a disciplined bowling performance, the Kingsmen, who are on debut, hunted down 160 without much fuss to move closer to clinching the title, thereby also knocking out the Sultans.
HYK vs MUL, PSL 2026: Multan Sultans batting unit collapses in Lahore
With Marnus Labuschagne winning the toss at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the Aussie batter sent his fellow countryman Ashton Turner’s side into bat due to chasing sides experiencing more success. Accordingly, the Kingsmen responded with gumption, reducing a powerful Sultans batting unit to 52/5 at one stage as they struggled to gather any momentum or string any meaningful partnership. It was Shan Masood’s unbeaten 69 off 46 deliveries, laced with four fours and as many sixes as the Pakistan Test skipper lifted the Sultans to 159/9 in 20 overs. Mohammad Ali, Akif Javed and Hunain Shah picked up two scalps each, while Saim Ayub and Glenn Maxwell snared one apiece.
HYK vs MUL, PSL 2026: Maaz Sadaqat spearheads Hyderabad Kingsmen’s run-chase
Maaz Sadaqat, who had redeemed himself by taking a fantastic catch to send Steve Smith packing for 13 after dropping him earlier in the same third over, hardly gave the Sultans any breathing space. Despite Muhammad Ismail dismissing Labuschagne for 11 in the very second over, Sadaqat continued in his merry ways at the other end, bringing up his half-century off only 25 deliveries.
But Usman Khan was as much destructive and reached his fifty only in the 10th over, needing only 29 balls to get to the milestone. Smith got the wicket of Usman Khan for 64 but the Kingsmen needed only 42 runs by then. Sadaqat stayed unbeaten on 64 at the other end, while Saim Ayub gave him company to be not out at 15 as only 15.2 overs were required to reach the target. Qualifier 2 against Islamabad will take place on May 2 in Lahore.
