‘I also make mistakes…’ What did Gautam Gambhir say on the relationship with Kohli-Rohit?
It was not even a year since Gautam Gambhir became the head coach that the Test careers of two stalwarts of Team India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, had ended. Before the England tour last year, Rohit and Kohli said goodbye to the longest format of cricket.
After the crushing defeat in the home Test series against New Zealand and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the Australia tour, Rohit-Kohli’s place was in danger. He also played Ranji Trophy at the behest of BCCI but retired just days before the team was selected for the England tour. It was understood that they were going to be dropped from the Test team, after which these senior players decided to leave this format.
After the England tour, when the captaincy of the ODI team was snatched from Rohit and it was said that no one’s place has been decided for the 2027 World Cup, then the fans saw the ODI career of Rohit-Kohli also coming to an end. After this, head coach Gautam Gambhir was heavily trolled. He was trolled a lot by Rohit-Kohli’s fans on social media. Fans believed that Gambhir was deliberately sidelining these two batsmen from the team. Now Gambhir has broken his silence on this trolling. He says that he may have made mistakes but he took decisions with the right intentions.

What has Gambhir said?
Gautam Gambhir said at the RevSportz Conclave on Monday (March 16), ‘I am human and I too may have made mistakes. As a human being, I should be allowed this. Players also have the right to make mistakes, I too have made mistakes in the last 18 months and I do not shy away from it. But I always believe that even a wrong decision taken with the right intentions can be accepted but a decision taken with wrong intentions is absolutely not acceptable in the dressing room.
