I am celebrating this comeback every day: Rishabh Pant

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who was returning to Test cricket after two years of injury, scored a brilliant century in India's second innings in the first Test against Bangladesh and made a century partnership with Shubman Gill, due to which India defeated the visiting team by 280 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

After the match, Rishabh Pant said, “I really like playing in Chennai. After the injury, I had to make a comeback in all three formats. This was my first Test match after that. I am celebrating this comeback every day. It was also a bit emotional. I wanted to score well in every match.”

Pant said, “It is a very good feeling for me to return to Test cricket again. I got a little emotional after scoring a century. However, at the end of the day, staying on the field is the most important thing for me. I don't know what people say about me but I understand any situation in my own way. At one point, we had lost three wickets on a score of 30 and I was looking to build a partnership and for that, I had a player on the field with whom I have a very good relationship.”

The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman scored 109 in the second innings and shared a 167-run partnership with Gill (119 not out) which contributed significantly to India's victory.
