‘I am not a leader, I am your son and brother…’ Deputy CM became emotional in public darshan, organized a class for officers

The effort to connect directly with the public has always been important in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. In this series, on 25 May 2026, 7-Kalidas Marg of the capital Lucknow once again became a major center of hopes of the common complainants. Since morning, people from every corner of the state had arrived with complaint files and applications in their hands. The occasion was the special program of UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya Janta Darshan, where he directly heard the problems of the people. During this time, a very different and intimate scene was seen, when the Deputy Chief Minister clearly refused to consider himself just a politician.

Actually, Keshav Prasad Maurya appeared very emotional while listening to the pain and complaints of the people, but at the same time his strict administrative form was also visible. While talking to the crowd present there, he made it clear that he is not doing any favor or helping the people by becoming a leader. In fact, he believes that the ultimate aim of his life is to act as a son to the elders, a true friend to the youth and a brother to the women. His direct communication brought a great relief to the common people, whose voice often gets lost in the noise of the system.

Keshav Prasad Maurya Janta Darshan: Strict instructions were given by calling officials directly

It is being told that the crowd of complainants in this Janata Darbar was much more than expected. Some were troubled by land disputes, while others were not getting justice from the police stations. In such a situation, the Deputy Chief Minister insisted on taking decisions ‘on the spot’ instead of pushing the files forward. Without any hesitation, he got the numbers of top officials of the districts dialed in front of him. He had a direct phone conversation with the District Magistrates of Saharanpur, Unnao, Bareilly, Badaun, Kaushambi and Aligarh, in which he gave an ultimatum to immediately settle the pending matters related to revenue and development.

Even on the issue of law and order, the government’s stance appeared to be very strict. The Deputy CM gave clear instructions to the Police Commissioner of Ghaziabad and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Jhansi and Rae Bareli that no victim should have to run from pillar to post to get justice. According to the local people, the way he directly talked to the Consolidation Commissioner over the phone on matters of land measurement and encroachment, it instilled a new trust in the system among the general public present there.

Helping hand extended to families suffering from serious illnesses

In this ‘Janta Darshan’, there were not only police and land issues, but also many helpless families who were desperate for serious treatment of their loved ones. Keshav Prasad Maurya’s great sensitivity was seen in such matters. When Mrs. Rammukhi, who came from Hardoi, requested for financial help for the treatment of her son Rahul Rathore, the Deputy CM directed the officials to immediately start the process of providing help from the relief fund. Similarly, he also kept the matter of medical assistance to Bhuvaneshwar Choubey on his top priority.

A very touching case of Lucknow resident Radheshyam Pandey also came to light. His son Anoop Pandey died untimely and tragically by drowning in the Gomti river, after which the family was completely devastated. Taking cognizance of this incident, the Deputy Chief Minister has given strict orders to the concerned department to immediately release financial assistance to the victim’s family.

At the end of the program, Keshav Prasad Maurya, in his familiar style, bluntly warned all the officers. He clearly said that the benefits of the government’s public welfare schemes must reach the last and deserving person in any case. If any poor person is found unnecessarily visiting government offices for his legitimate complaint, then the concerned officers will be directly held responsible and strict action will be taken against them.
