I am secular… CM Mamta, painted in the colors of Hindutva, announced to lay the foundation stone of Mahakal Temple
Bengal: Before the assembly elections next year in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seems to be politically active. He made an important announcement on Monday, in which it was said that the foundation stone of the state’s largest Mahakal temple will be laid in the second week of January. He made this announcement at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the ‘Durga Aangan’ complex dedicated to Goddess Durga in New Town, Kolkata.
Foundation stone of Mahakal temple
Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee told that the land for the Mahakal temple has already been inspected and during the puja, she had fixed the date for laying the foundation stone. She said, “I am giving you good news, we will lay the foundation of Mahakal temple in the second week of January.” Many political analysts are considering this step as part of the election strategy, because BJP has been continuously accusing Mamata of Hindutva appeasement.
Refutation of allegations of appeasement
During this, the Chief Minister rejected the allegations of appeasement being made by the opposition. She said that she is truly secular and participates in programs of all religions without any discrimination. Mamta said, “People accuse me of appeasement, but this is not right. I am truly secular. When I go to Gurudwara, no one says anything, but when I go to Eid functions, criticism starts.
SIR process attack
Along with this, Mamata also targeted the SIR (special intensive revision) process implemented by the Central Government. He claimed that people are being unnecessarily harassed during this process and more than 50 people have lost their lives in a month. Mamta said that she will continuously fight to protect the rights and democratic rights of the people and is ready to sacrifice her life for this.
Mamata is strengthening the political message
This entire initiative makes it clear that Mamata Banerjee is trying to present both Hindutva and secular images in a balanced form as part of her election strategy. Laying the foundation stone of Mahakal Temple, refuting allegations of appeasement and sharp comments on the SIR process are further strengthening his political message. This step is being considered important to affect his image and public support in the upcoming assembly elections. It is Mamata Banerjee’s attempt to increase her popularity among the people and answer the opposition’s allegations while maintaining a balance between both religious and social viewpoints.
