‘I am the next target’, Raghav Chadha meets President Murmu and asks for security
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has said that he is the next target of the Punjab government. On Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government of indulging in ‘vengeance politics’. He accused the government of misusing the machinery to target MPs who recently left the party and joined the BJP. He has made this claim after the Punjab Police raided the house of former Aam Aadmi Party MP and party organization general secretary Sandeep Pathak. But Pathak escaped from the Punjab Police through the back side of the house.
Raghav Chadha on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party, alleging that the Punjab government machinery is being misused to target MPs who recently joined the BJP. Recently, under the leadership of Chadha, 7 MPs of Aam Aadmi Party had joined BJP.

Assurance of security under the Constitution
Chadha along with three other MPs met President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday. Sandeep Pathak was also involved in this. The trio submitted a memorandum to the President, alleging harassment and politically motivated action against them after their exit from AAP. Sandeep Pathak said, ‘We informed the President about the current situation, and he assured us of security under the Constitution.’
What did Chadha say after the meeting?
Chadha said after the meeting with Murmu, ‘All the MPs who exercised their constitutional right to express their disagreement with the Aam Aadmi Party, who decided to leave the party and all these incidents and developments have been presented to the President today. I also want to tell the Aam Aadmi Party that as long as we remained obedient, we were considered cultured. As soon as we left the party, we were declared corrupt.
He alleged that many former AAP MPs who have joined BJP are being threatened and pressurized by state agencies. He said, ‘The Aam Aadmi Party, which accuses others of vendetta politics, is itself today indulging in dangerous vendetta politics. Ever since we left AAP and joined BJP on April 24, our MPs are being systematically targeted and harassed.

Harbhajan Singh was quoted
Citing examples, Chadha claimed that former cricketer and MP Harbhajan Singh has been attacked, while industrialist and MP Rajendra Gupta’s business operations have allegedly been hampered. He said that we left Aam Aadmi Party on April 24, 2026 and joined BJP. Since then our MPs are being harassed. First, Traitor was written outside the house of World Cup-winning cricketer Harbhajan Singh. With the help of Punjab Police, stones were allegedly thrown at his residence and derogatory slogans were raised targeting his family.
FIR and notice are baseless – Chadha
He said, ‘Our colleague Rajendra Gupta, who is a Padma Shri awardee and runs a big factory in the Malwa region of Punjab which provides livelihood to about 30,000 people, his factory was targeted. The Punjab government reportedly cut off their water supply and the pollution board conducted raids to initiate action to shut down the factory.’ He claimed that cases have been registered against MP Sandeep Pathak.
Chadha said, ‘These FIRs and notices are so baseless that they are not even worthy of being written on paper. The court will reject them. He warned the AAP-led government that such actions could have serious consequences. He said that using the vigilance department, pollution board and police for political vendetta is a dangerous game. You may have started it, but it will not end well. This has got to stop.
