Anjali, who has appeared in many films and TV shows, told that she was cast in Akshay Kumar starrer film ‘Bell Bottom’ for a special reason. The actress said that she got this role more because of her increased weight than her talent.
Anjali Anand shared her experience in a recent interview. He told that in a scene of the film, a terrorist character falls on him and is caught, for which he was selected. The actress said that initially she felt a little strange after hearing this, but later she took it positively.
Anjali spoke on the reason for getting the role in ‘Bell Bottom’
Anjali Anand told that many times people in the industry are judged on the basis of their body. He said that he has been getting such characters which have a connection with his weight. Expressing sadness, the actress said that many people ignore her acting ability and focus only on her looks.
He said that when an artiste is recognized only on the basis of his body, it is quite disappointing. Every artist wants that his work and acting should be given equal importance.
Anjali expressed her views on body shaming
Anjali Anand also spoke openly about the criticism regarding her weight. She said that in the eyes of some people, she does not fit into the set beauty standards, but such people do not shy away from criticizing even big stars.
The actress said that there cannot be any single standard of beauty. He told that big actors like Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai, Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan have also had to face criticism. Therefore people’s comments cannot decide their hard work and identity.
Image changed after ‘Rocky and Rani Ki Prem Kahani’
Anjali Anand also mentioned the changes in her career after the film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. He told that after this film, he started getting more offers for similar characters.
He said that his character in the film raises his voice against body shaming, which was rarely seen in Hindi cinema earlier. According to Anjali, earlier plus size characters were often limited to comedy or jokes only.
Anjali said that earlier in films, plus size women were shown only in the roles of those who eat too much or become the butt of jokes. But now times are changing and such characters should also get their own story and identity.
