“I have been silenced, not defeated”, Raghav Chadha gave a message to AAP.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Internal differences have once again come to the fore in Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The party has requested to remove Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha from the post of Deputy Leader in the House, which has increased the tension in the party. After being removed from the post, Chadha posted a video on social media platform X and said, “I have been silenced, not defeated. This is my message to the common man.”
Chadha stressed in his video that he raised issues in Parliament which usually remain outside the scope of discussion. He mentioned issues like increasing tax burden on the middle class, expiry of data limit, right to paternity leave and excess baggage charges at airports. He says that raising these issues in Parliament is not a crime.
AAP wrote a letter to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat requesting the removal of Chadha from the post of deputy leader and proposed Punjab MP Ashok Mittal in his place. According to the party, now Chadha will not be allotted time from AAP’s fixed quota to speak in Parliament.
At one time Chadha was considered very close and confidant of Kejriwal. He played an important role in the organization of AAP and during his tenure in Delhi-Punjab. But in recent times the distance between him and the party leadership kept increasing.
Ashok Mittal, who became the new deputy leader, said that he has been given this responsibility by the party’s national convenor and he will present AAP’s policy and national interests in the House with complete honesty.
This move points to the ongoing impasse between the power structure in the party and the MPs, while Raghav Chadha’s reaction makes it clear that he has not compromised on his political vision.
