“I have seen him score runs in Perth…” Yashasvi Jaiswal gives a massive statement on Virat kohli’s hundred
After day three of the Perth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), India’s star emerging batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal praised talisman batter Virat Kohli and said he is quite “incredible”. Virat finally returned to form after nearly 500 days with a Test century and that too in a territory where he flourishes-to Australia-breaking many records and adding lots to his legacy as an overseas batter. Virat scored an unbeaten hundred off 143 balls, containing eight fours and two sixes, during the match. His runs came at a strike rate of 69.93. After realizing the century, he had a sigh of relief while raising his bat above his head.
Now, Virat has accomplished his 81st international century, all the while continuing to chase idol Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international centuries against him. This is also his 30th in Test cricket. Now in 119 matches, Virat has scored 9,145 runs at an average of 48.13 with 30 centuries and 31 fifties. The best score is a massive 254*.
As for the 54 List A centuries, nine T20 centuries, and 37 first-class centuries, he has crossed that elusive 100 centuries in professional cricket tallies.
Virat is also the seventh player to make 2000 runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He made 26 BGT appearances, in which he scored runs at a strike rate of 48.79, 2147 recorded centuries with 9 hundreds and 5 half-centuries. His highest score is 186.
This is the seventh Test century of Virat in Australia-thus making him the highest century-maker in Tests in Australia by an Indian, overtaking Sachin Tendulkar’s total of six Test tons in Australia. He has also tied with Wally Hammond of England for the second-most Test centuries in Australia. The most Test centuries in Australia are by England’s Jack Hobbs, with nine tons.
Virat has 1,457 runs at an avg of 56.03 from 7 centuries and 4 fifties in Tests in Australia. His highest score has been 169.
This is the 12th international century made by Virat in Australia, the highest by any batter. He has 12 centuries and 19 fifties for a total of 3,531 runs in 43 matches, with 55 innings at an average of 56.95 in Australia. His best is 169.
He has matched Sunil Gavaskar’s score of seven centuries against the West Indies for the most Test centuries by an overseas nation.
He has tied with Sachin Tendulkar on nine centuries against Australia, sharing third place in Tests against an opponent for India. Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for the most Test hundreds against an opponent by India with 13 against West Indies.
Jaiswal spoke to the mediapersons after the final day’s play of the third Test and summed it up saying that Kohli has been scoring runs in Perth from long before, but he has watched him for the first time from the stands. “I have seen him score runs in Perth before. Today I saw him do that live from the other end. He has been doing this for a long time. He is just incredible. We were so happy about him, that he should finish it and then we can go out and field. I think that is what was going on, we were waiting for his hundred. And he played amazingly,” Jaiswal was quoted by ICC.
