‘I know what to do…’ What did Captain Surya say on his poor form in T20?
Team India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has been in poor form for a long time. Surya scored his last half-century in T20 International in October last year. His form remains a cause of concern for the Indian team. Especially in view of the T20 World Cup, it has become very important for Surya to regain his rhythm.
Surya has claimed many times that he is ‘not out of form, but out of run’. That means he is in form, just runs are not coming from his bat. However, this time he has admitted that he is going through a bad phase. After the announcement of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, Surya said that in the past also many players have returned from poor form. I know what I have to do.

Will Surya’s old avatar be seen in the World Cup?
After the announcement of the 15-member squad, Surya said in the press conference, ‘I know what I have to do and I will do it. You will definitely see Suryakumar the batsman. This phase (bad form) has lasted a little longer but in the past also many players have bounced back from bad form.
35-year-old Surya admitted that playing the World Cup on home soil will be challenging but he likes such challenges. The Indian captain said, ‘Playing in front of the home crowd is a big responsibility and challenge for me. The team looks balanced and we have selected the right players. Looking at the team, we already have 2-3 combinations ready.

Gill out due to team combination
Shubman Gill has not been selected for the T20 World Cup. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Surya both gave similar statements that Gill was not able to fit into the team combination, due to which he was not selected.
Agarkar said, ‘We know what a great player he is but at the moment perhaps he is not getting that many runs from his bat. Unfortunately, he was also left out of the last World Cup because we decided to play with a different combination. Combination has to be kept in mind while selecting the team. When you select a team of 15 players, someone has to be out and this time unfortunately Gill had to be out.
Agarkar said that the team management wanted to keep an additional wicketkeeper in the top order, due to which a batsman had to be sacrificed. He said that Ishan Kishan, who performed brilliantly in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, was given priority, while Jitesh Sharma was generally used as a lower-order fast batsman. This former Indian fast bowler said, ‘We are looking at the combination and we felt the need of a wicketkeeper who can bat in the top order. Jitesh did nothing wrong but we had to keep in mind the combination and the need for a wicketkeeper in the top order.
