Mumbai: Tovino Thomas' film Identity is receiving positive responses and has had a good run in theaters in Tamil Nadu since its release on January 2. Along with the strong subject matter, the film is also being praised for its performances, technicality and production values. “I had committed to this film even when I was shooting for Ajayante Randam Moksham (ARM) in 2022. When the film's directors Akhil and Anas came to me with the story, they were all set to shoot because They also had the shot divisions ready. I know the way they work because we have worked in forensics before. When so much hard work is being done for the film, I have to trust them,” he started.
Tovino said that Identity is a new project, so he once again liked the story. The actor says, “Be it a film, the story comes first. I have never been a part of any such story and then came the character of Haran. I have not played such a character in any of my previous films. This character was for me. That was enough to take the film forward.”
In fact, Haran is someone we haven't seen on screen because of his many looks, a tough and subtle body language, especially for a sketch artist. But Tovino did it with ease. “Being a part of the film industry since 2012, I didn't need any training to play this role well on screen. But as I do for almost all my films, I worked with Akhil and Anas in Auroville I had my discussion sessions at Adishakti Theater Arts. So for every character, I sit with Vinay (Artistic Director of Adishakti), and discuss my script as well as the character,” he says. They say. Tovino says that he sees his role in each of his films as another character, and not as someone who comes with shades of what is written for him. “I don't look at whether he is a hero or a villain in the film. I only look at whether the arc of the character is well written or not. And when we were shooting for Identity, actor Vinay Rai also told me about the character.
