‘I used the name by mistake…’ UP minister apologizes to Salman Khan, calls Shahrukh Khan a traitor
Uttar Pradesh: Once again a controversial statement has created a stir in UP politics. Thakur Raghuraj Singh, a minister with the status of Yogi government, even called Bollywood superstar Salman Khan a traitor and demanded his death sentence. But within 24 hours, he reversed his statement and clarified that he was talking about Shahrukh Khan and had said Salman’s name by mistake. This entire matter is becoming increasingly viral on social media.
The first statement created an uproar
During a program in Aligarh, Minister Thakur Raghuraj Singh fiercely targeted Salman Khan. He said that Salman loves Pakistan more and supports Pakistan-Bangladesh. The minister alleged that Salman earns money from Hindus in India but supports Muslims.
He even said that such traitors should be hanged and appealed to the people not to watch Salman’s films. This video spread rapidly on social media and sparked heated debate in political and social circles. Many people described it as spreading hatred.

Gave clarification by taking a U-turn
As the controversy escalated, the next day the minister released a video and gave clarification. He said, "I took Salman Khan’s name by mistake. Salman is a good actor." After this he targeted Shahrukh Khan. Raghuraj Singh claimed that Shahrukh Khan is a traitor and has helped Pakistan worth Rs 265 crore.
He said that Shahrukh comes forward when there is a crisis in Pakistan but remains silent on the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. People are surprised to see this U-turn of the leader. There has been a flood of memes and jokes on social media.
Akhilesh Yadav’s sharp counterattack
Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav strongly attacked BJP on this statement. He posted on social media that the minister forgot that his superior (Prime Minister Modi) had flown kites with Salman Khan a few years ago.
Akhilesh taunted, "It may happen that this statement reaches Delhi and the minister’s life is cut." He said that instead of talking about real issues like inflation and unemployment, BJP leaders give such statements.
Minister’s old record
Thakur Raghuraj Singh has been in the news earlier also for many controversial statements. Some time ago he said that "The more educated a Muslim is, the bigger a terrorist he is.". He often comes into limelight with such statements. At present, there has been no response from both Salman and Shahrukh, but the discussion is going on on social media.
