“I want Yashasvi Jaiswal to go to Sachin, Dravid, Virat for suggestions and not me”: Sunil Gavaskar opens on helping the young batter

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 161 runs in the second innings of the first Test against Australia, but the remaining scores have been ordinary for the young batter. He spoke to Sunil Gavaskar after the Adelaide Test, and the veteran suggested him to stop shuffling too much inside the crease. The southpaw has been speaking to the great batter, but the conversations have become less in the last year.

Gavaskar spoke about giving suggestions to Jaiswal, saying that he would like him to go to other great India batters instead of him. “I have had conversations in the past and given him suggestions. We also spoke at the Adelaide Oval when the Indian team was passing through the tunnel. We both are from different generations, and I don’t want him to change his style a lot. He just have to be cautious for the first few overs of the game. India have a batting coach who can guide him,” he said on Star Sports.

Gavaskar also named some of the cricketers Jaiswal can turn up to if he needs help. “I want him to go to Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. He can also have a word with his teammates Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as they have been around for years,” he added.

Jaiswal would need runs in the remaining two Tests in Melbourne and Sydney to justify his selection for the high-profile tour.
