“I was disappointed…”Shreyas Iyer drops a cryptic remark after his Fallout with KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders were crowned champions of IPL 2024 under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, who is a batter for the Indian cricket team. However, the franchise refused to retain him ahead of the mega auctions, but they kept Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh. From the auction, he was finally sold to Punjab Kings for Rs. 26.75 crores, and he will be leading the team in IPL 2025. In a recent interaction with Indian Express, Shreyas opened up about being snubbed for retention and how disappointed he was.

“Of course, it was grand to win a title with KKR! Fan following was tremendous, electrified the stadium, and any moment I spent with them was fun. So, yes, we spoke straight after the IPL championship. Now, for a couple of months there wasn’t communication, any concrete attempt to have any kinds of retention talks. I was kind of lost. There was nothing down the line. Parting ways mutually was basically because there was no communication. That is basically it,” Shreyas told in an interaction with Indian Express.

“Yes, of course, I was disappointed. When you have no route of communication and you find out about things and say, fine, a week before retention, something is obviously amiss. So I had to make a call. Whatever is written is to happen. But I just want to add that I have had a phenomenal time being with Shah Rukh Sir and the family, all of them. And of course, winning the championship was perhaps one of the most important moments in my life,” Shreyas added.

Shreyas was part of the Delhi Capitals and served as the captain of this franchise in 2018-2020.
