Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai has announced that he will not wear shoes and slippers until he ousts state Chief Minister MK Stalin and his party DMK from power. He announced this in front of everyone during a press conference in Coimbatore on Thursday. During this, he took off his shoes and took them in his hands. The BJP leader also said that from tomorrow he will protest against the government's attitude in the sexual harassment case of Anna University student.

Annamalai said, “Tomorrow I will protest in front of my house and flog myself six times. From tomorrow I will fast for 48 days and appeal to six-armed Murugan. Tomorrow a protest will be held in front of the house of every BJP member. From tomorrow till DMK is out of power, I will not wear slippers. This must end now.”

On the other hand, the main opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADM) in Tamil Nadu attempted to protest against the alleged sexual harassment of an Anna University student in Chennai and condemned the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led government. During this time, the police took into custody the senior leaders of the protesting party.

At the same time, senior BJP leader and former Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan and other party leaders were also stopped by the police from protesting. Sundararajan said they had every right to protest and alleged that sexual crimes were on the rise and criticized police inaction.

AIADMK leader D. Jayakumar argued with senior police officials after he was told that the party had not been given permission to protest. He also wanted to know from the police officials what kind of permission has been given to the ruling party's allies Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and other parties.
