Shenoy shares his experience of working as a businessman

Shenoy has shared his experience of working as a businessman in a post on social media platform X. Sharing this experience, he said that he often works more than 100 hours a week, but the work is often completed in 4-5 hours a day. His post shows that it is not about the number of hours worked, but about the focus during those hours.

Shenoy also challenged the traditional notion of enforcing working hours. Regarding this, he said, ‘Motivated individuals will naturally work hard even without the need for strict deadlines.’

In his post on X, Shenoy wrote, ‘I have probably worked 100 hours per week throughout my career, but most of it was as a businessman. You don’t need to set working hours, people who are motivated will happily work under any circumstances. Most of the work gets done in 4-5 hours a day, but you never know when it will be completed.

He further said, ‘It is still difficult for me to call meetings work, but what I call work takes more energy than meetings. To some extent this logic of x hours of work is beyond my society. I work hard when I play. When I work, I work hard.

Some industry leaders supported the idea of ​​working 80–90 hours per week, while others expressed concern over the concept of a 90-hour work week.

Why did this debate arise?

During a meeting, when L&T Chairman Subramaniam was asked about working hours, he said, ‘Frankly, I regret that I am not able to make you work on Sundays. If I can get you to work even on Sunday, I will be very happy, because I work on Sunday also. What do you do sitting at home? How long until you can see your wife?
