IAS Rinku Singh Rahi: Opened a scam of Rs 100 crore by posing as a PCS officer, took seven bullets and now resigned from the job after becoming IAS.

Lucknow, Read: IAS Rinku Singh Rahi resigned from the job. Rinku Singh, while being the District Social Welfare Officer of Muzaffarnagar, had exposed the scholarship scam of Rs 100 crore. The miscreants had shot him seven times. Was hospitalized for months. Somehow Rinku Singh’s life was saved. The face got disfigured. He lost his vision in one eye. He lost his hearing. Despite all this, he did not change his style of job. Became IAS in the year 2022. Now he felt hurt and resigned, alleging that he was not given any responsibility.

Who is Rinku Singh Rahi?

A look at the journey of Rinku Singh Rahi, son of a flour mill operator in the village of Hathras, from PCS to becoming an IAS.

Rinku Singh Rahi comes from Dalit community. Born on 20 May 1982 in Hathras. The financial condition was not very good. Father used to run a flour mill. Did his primary education from government school. Got good marks in Intermediate. Got admission in B.Tech in Tata Institute on scholarship. After engineering, passed UP-PCS examination in the year 2004. Became a social welfare officer.

Scam of 100 crores and seven bullets…

Scholarship scam worth Rs 100 crore in Muzaffarnagar had created a stir in the state. The matter is of the year 2009. Rinku Singh Rahi was a social welfare officer. Here scholarships were being withdrawn through fake bank accounts. He was the one who exposed this scam. However, Rinku Singh had to pay a heavy price for this. One day when he was playing badminton. Two attackers opened fire on him. Rinku Singh was hit by 7 bullets. Rinku, soaked in blood, was admitted to a hospital in Meerut. Kept battling between life and death for almost a month. After all life was saved. But he lost one eye in this attack. His face became disfigured and at one point he lost his hearing.

But Rinku Singh Rahi did not lose courage. After healing the wounds of that incident, he started preparing for UPSC. In the year 2022, he qualified UPSC from disabled quota and became IAS. Became SDM in Mathura in July 2025. He was sent from Mathura as SDM of Shahjahanpur. But here he got embroiled in a new controversy. A clerk of the lawyer was practicing in the open. The lawyers opened a front against Rinku Singh, who was accused of arranging meetings for him. While pacifying them, Rinku Singh started holding his ears in front of the lawyers. After this video went viral, the government removed Rinku Singh from the post of SDM of Shahjahanpur and attached him to the Revenue Council. Since then Rinku Singh is attached to the council.

He alleges that he is not being given any responsibility. Getting salary, but no opportunity to serve. Hurt by this, he has resigned from the job. In his letter he alleged that he was not given the opportunity to work and that “a separate system parallel to the constitutional system” was running.
