IAS Success Story: Divya Tanwar, a resident of Nimbi, a small village in Haryana, has proved that if the intentions are strong then no matter how difficult the circumstances are, the destination can be reached. Divya’s success story is an inspiration for millions of youth who are struggling to realize their dreams despite limited resources and difficult circumstances.
In the year 2011, Divya lost her father. This was the time when children’s education often stopped, but his mother Babita Tanwar did not give up in front of the situation. He labored in the fields during the day and did sewing at night and took up the responsibility of educating his four children. This struggle of her mother taught Divya to never stop.
Divya studied from a government school and then continued her education from Navodaya Vidyalaya. After this she obtained B.Sc degree from Government Women’s College, Mahendragarh. Along with studies, Divya used to meet her own expenses by giving tuition to children. During this time he decided to give UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Instead of expensive coaching in big cities, Divya relied on free online study material and mock tests. She used to study hard for 10 hours every day. Her dedication paid off and in 2021, she passed the UPSC exam in her first attempt and secured 438th rank and became an IPS. But his dream was to become an IAS, so he made another attempt.
In the second attempt, Divya finally fulfilled her dream of becoming an IAS officer by securing 105th rank in the UPSC exam of 2022. Presently she is serving in Manipur cadre.
This story of Divya is not just about passing the exam, but also about a mother’s love, struggle and daughter’s unwavering courage. Despite poverty, lack of father and limited resources, Divya never gave up. She is an example for millions of girls today that if hard work and courage come together, no dream can remain unfulfilled.
