ICC Chairman Jay Shah meets J&K players after historic Ranji Trophy win

New Delhi.New Delhi: ICC Chairman Jay Shah met the Jammu and Kashmir team members after their historic Ranji Trophy win. In this victory, the team won its first title by defeating eight-time champion Karnataka at the Hubli Cricket Ground on 28 February. After the win, the players wanted to meet Shah and acknowledged his leadership role in strengthening cricket in the region during his tenure as BCCI Secretary. The ICC Chairman fulfilled his wish and encouraged the players by celebrating their historic success. BCCI shared pictures of the meeting on X and wrote, “Jammu and Kashmir’s historic victory in the Ranji Trophy will be a matter of pride for cricket in the region.”

The board further said, “After their memorable win, the players expressed their heartfelt desire to meet and share this special moment with Honorable ICC Chairman @JayShah, and acknowledge his leadership role in strengthening cricket in Jammu and Kashmir during his tenure as BCCI Secretary.” BCCI congratulated the entire Jammu and Kashmir team and the cricket world for writing a wonderful chapter in Indian domestic cricket, and also thanked Shah for meeting the winning team.

J&K created history by winning the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 title on the basis of a huge first innings lead against eight-time champions Karnataka at the Hubli Cricket Ground. After scoring 584 runs in their first innings, Jammu and Kashmir bowled out Karnataka for 293 runs to take a crucial lead of 291 runs.
