ICC gave big punishment to Team India, mistake was made in second ODI

ICC sentenced Team India: The second match of the ODI series between India and South Africa was played in Raipur on 3 December. Chasing a huge target in this match, South Africa won by 4 wickets. After this, India was successful in winning the third match and winning the series 2-1. However, the ICC has punished the host team for a mistake in the second match.

ICC has fined Indian team players 10 percent of their match fees for slow over-rate during the second ODI against South Africa. South Africa chased a spectacular total of 359 runs in that game and then leveled the series 1-1, after which India won the series in Visakhapatnam. Keeping the time allowance in mind, India was able to bowl two overs less than its target. The penalty was imposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Staff – which deals with minimum over-rate offences – players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their team fails to bowl in the stipulated time. India captain KL Rahul pleaded guilty and accepted the proposed penalty, meaning no formal hearing was required.

This allegation was made by on-field umpires Rod Tucker and Rohan Pandit as well as third umpire Sam Nogajski and fourth umpire Jayaraman Madangopal.
