According to The Economic Times report, JioStar has told the ICC that it will not be able to continue the last two years of its four-year India Media Rights Agreement, citing huge financial losses as the main reason. After which ICC talked about other methods, but no solution could be found. The report further states that the ICC has launched a new bidding cycle for India’s media rights for 2026-29, which is expected to fetch around $2.4 billion.

The ICC is believed to have spoken to Sony Pictures Networks India, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video, but none of them have shown confirmed interest due to ‘pricing concerns’. If the deal is not reached then ICC is going to get a big blow, because the next T20 World Cup is just three months away from now. However, no official statement has come from ICC or JioStar on this.
