ICC Men’s Player of the Month nominees for January 2026: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has nominated three strong players for the Men’s Player of the Month for January. A player from India is also included in this. Daryl Mitchell, Joe Root and Suryakumar Yadav have been included for the Men’s Player of the Month Award.
These three players have performed brilliantly in January-February 2026. Daryl Mitchell has performed well in ODI cricket. Whereas Joe Root also showed his strength in ODI and Test. Whereas Suryakumar Yadav has performed brilliantly in T20. Now it remains to be seen who gets the Player of the Month award. All three nominated players have performed brilliantly.
New Zealand’s star batsman Daryl Mitchell made a great start to the year as his team won the five-match ODI series against India 2-1. Mitchell saved the team from trailing 0-1 by scoring consecutive centuries in the second and third matches of the series. He scored a total of 352 runs and averaged 176, and was named Player of the Series. Apart from this, Mitchell reached number 1 in the ODI rankings. In the T20I series also, he scored 125 runs at a strike rate of 186.56 and led the team to an important win.
Root’s great performance
England captain Joe Root was the hero of England’s comeback win in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Root scored 61 runs in the first match, 75 in the second and 111 not out in the final match to help England win the series 2-1 after trailing 0-1. He was named Player of the Series for his contribution of a total of 242 runs and two wickets. Root had already proved his worth against Australia in the Ashes 2025/26, especially by scoring 160 runs in the first innings of the Sydney Test. This innings proved to be very important for England.

Suryakumar Yadav returned to form before the World Cup
India’s star batsman Suryakumar Yadav returned to form just ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He scored 242 runs in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. In which his strike rate was 196.74 and led the team to a 4-1 victory. Especially by scoring unbeaten 82 runs in the second match, he helped India overcome New Zealand’s target of 208 runs in just 15.2 overs. Yadav left his bad phase behind by scoring three half-centuries and performed consistently for the team.
