ICC ODI Ranking: Alana King again becomes number 1 among ODI bowlers, Australia’s leg-spinner snatches the top spot

Dubai: Alana King has again reached the top of the ICC women’s ODI bowling rankings thanks to her brilliant performance during Australia’s Caribbean tour. King took five wickets in her last match in St Kitts, moving her ahead of England’s Sophie Ecclestone in the latest rankings released on Tuesday. The leg-spinner (753) ended Ecclestone’s nearly four-year dominance at the top of the rankings in March, although she fell behind the England left-arm orthodox spinner in last week’s rankings. The 30-year-old finished the match with impressive figures of 5/19 (10) at Warner Park in Basseterre. He bowled 44 dot balls as Australia won by nine wickets and took the series 3–0.

According to the ICC, due to her performance, she moved up one place to seventh in the all-rounder rankings (281) and overtook England’s Nate Sciver-Brunt (280). On the other hand, New Zealand’s batsmen also performed brilliantly as they scored a lot of runs in the home ODI series against South Africa. Maddy Green reached a career-best rating of 642 and moved up four places to ninth. Amy Kerr, who captured the world’s attention when she scored 179 off 139 balls at the Basin Reserve to complete the highest women’s ODI chase in history, moved up six places to joint 14th.

Due to her brilliant performance, Amy even moved ahead of Marizanne Kapp, who was ranked fourth in the ODI all-rounder rankings. His performance also included a bowling performance of 2/37 in New Zealand’s victory in the third ODI, which helped the team win the series 2–1. On the other hand, Chloe Tryon and Sune Luus both moved up two places each in the all-rounder rankings to joint 12th (223 rating points) and 15th (185 rating points).
