Good news for bowlers, you will get such advantage on wide ball, ICC will issue rules soon

Delhi: Veteran South African cricketer and former captain Shaun Pollock has said that the ICC Cricket Committee is considering giving some relaxation to the bowlers in the rules of wide ball. He told that the current rules are very strict for the bowlers, especially when the batsmen change their position at the last moment.

Bowlers will get relaxation on wide ball

In ODI and T-20 cricket, batsmen often make movements on the crease to disturb the line and length of the bowler, due to which the ball is declared wide. Pollock said, “I am part of the ICC cricket committee and we are discussing whether bowlers should be given a little more freedom on the wide ball. The current rules are very strict for bowlers. If the batsman makes movement at the last moment, it is not easy for the bowler.”

Discussion of change in rules

He told that the bowler should know during the run-up where he will bowl. Under the current rules, if the batsman changes his position at the last moment, the ball is given wide. Pollock said, “I want there to be a slight change in this rule so that the bowler can benefit from it.”

51-year-old Pollock said that the bowler should decide his strategy in advance. He said, “It is not possible for a bowler to change his plans at the last second. He should know what to do during the run-up itself. This is the issue we are discussing.”
