ICC Big Decisions: After the end of IPL 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken some big decisions related to cricket. After the IPL 2026 final, a big meeting of the ICC Board was held in Ahmedabad, in which many proposals were approved. The biggest decision taken in the meeting was that Cricket Canada was suspended from the membership of the board. The ICC has suspended Cricket Canada from ICC membership with immediate effect due to ‘serious breach of membership obligations’.

However, ICC will continue funding Cricket Canada, so that the training of the players is not affected. The ICC said Cricket Canada will be provided a set of reinstatement conditions aimed at addressing governance and administrative deficiencies. However, Canada’s national representative teams will remain eligible to participate in ICC competitions during the period of the Board’s suspension. ICC took these big decisions in the meeting

In case of bad light during regular Test matches, with the consent of both the teams, pink ball can be used instead of red ball, so that the game can continue for a longer time.
To overcome the problems faced by poor lighting during the game, research will be done on new lighting technology for match officials and grounds.
The trial of leg side wide will be adopted permanently.
Match officials will be allowed to view Hawk-Eye data when reporting illegal bowling actions.
The head coach or his representatives will be allowed to interact with the team during the drinks break.
An interval of 15 minutes will be necessary in T20 international matches. Along with this, the B batsmen will have to be ready till the start of the game.
All MCC rules of cricket will come into effect from 1 October 2026.

Big update regarding Women’s World Cup 2028

The board has also approved a qualifying process for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028. This includes a 10-team global qualifier, which will prepare the basis for 12 teams to enter the tournament. Pakistan will host this tournament, while India’s matches will be played at a neutral venue.
